Nurturing the motto Department of English, Brahmanbaria Government College, opens the world of creative imagination to the learners which is essential for today’s global environment. We are living in a dynamic world and English Literature gives us a deep understanding of this world, lives and times, of the way things have been and how they might be. Students in the department are inspired to shape their studies in order to reflect their specific interest as they prepare themselves to pursue their roles as members of a globalized society. The students with specializations in the areas of literature, linguistics, or ELT choose courses based on their requirements and areas of interest. The main focus is to prepare students most effectively to face the challenges of employment and leadership in their fields. Brahmanbaria Government College initiated graduate and post graduate program in English Literature in the year 1997 and 2012 respectively. It offers 170 seats for the graduate students every year. Currently, around 800 students are pursuing their graduation from this department. In addition to the academic programs and courses, the department also organizes a variety of activities such as presentation, debate, cultural program and study tour. What is more, a wall magazine is regularly published to ignite the spirit of imagination and creativity among the students.

Achievements
Since its initiation, Department of English is materializing its goals and objectives vigorously. We are proud to mention that two of the faculty members were the students of this department and they joined here qualifying BCS exam. Besides them, many more alumni of this department have been showing their excellences in different fields.
